Whatever your interest, we have the program.

It can be confusing for prospective (and even existing) students to navigate all of Lehigh’s undergraduate degrees related to the environment. Students have varying attributes and goals, so Lehigh has several environmental options for study. Here is a brief description of our undergraduate environmental degrees. 

Environmental Studies (BA and Minor). Environmental Studies is an interdisciplinary degree of Lehigh’s Environmental Initiative. The degree is for students interested in environmental affairs from a social science perspective. This newly revised degree includes concentrations in health, humanities, planning, policy & law, politics & society, and science & technology, It prepares students for many careers including those in federal, state and local government agencies, non-profit organizations, environmental communication and environmental law. Please follow this link for more information about Environmental Studies.

Earth & Environmental Sciences (BS, BA, and Minor). The Department of Earth & Environmental Sciences in the College of Arts & Sciences provides rigorous degrees that exposes students to the fundamentals of environmental science, geology, and ecology. As an interdisciplinary science, it requires that students also complete courses in math and collateral sciences such as physics, chemistry, and in some cases, biology. Please follow this link for more information about undergraduate programs in Earth & Environmental Sciences.

Environmental Engineering (BS). The degree in Environmental Engineering is offered through the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering and requires admission into the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science. Environmental Engineering students receive rigorous training in the physical sciences, mathematics, and scientific methods, coupled with complementary studies in the humanities and social sciences. Please follow this link for more information about undergraduate programs in Environmental Engineering.

IDEAS: Integrated Degree in Engineering, Arts and Sciences (BS). The degree in Environmental Engineering is offered through the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering and requires admission into the P.C. Summer Environmental Fellowship Symposium 

The faculty and students of the EI program celebrate the beginning of each fall semester honoring the recipients of the undergraduate Summer Environmental Fellowship Symposium. The students present the results of their summer activities in a poster session. The symposium program, posters and gallery images can be viewed online.
