On Tuesday, September 13, members of the the Lehigh Costa Rica Internship Program gathered in the STEPS Concourse to showcase their achievements. This unique study abroad opportunity offered through Lehigh's Environment Initiatives interdisciplinary program was presented over refreshments and a poster symposium. The Costa Rica Interns shared the highlights of their experience as well as their research and experience of the opportunity.
The Costa Rica summer Internship Program is a seven-week program that not only provides experience, but also doubles as a service opportunity. The program is closely tied to sustainable development, giving students the opportunity to research and study the unique environment of Costa Rica and the development and conservation of the biology that exists there. The ultimate goal of this unique program is to provide students the opportunity for hands-on experience with conservation, while simultaneously yielding the experience of staying with Costa Rican families and learning about their culture in addition to their environment.
